Francis Lockwood
Francis Lockwood (born March 31, 1952 in Calais ) is a French jazz and fusion musician ( piano , keyboards , composition).

Lockwood, son of a violin teacher and the older brother of violinist Didier Lockwood , also learned to play the violin. He studied at the conservatory and at the age of 17 received a prize as a classical violinist. He switched to the organ and first played with the rock band Choc , which released three singles on Decca Records in 1970 and 1971 , then as an organist in the Paris rock band Abracadabra , which was documented on the 1972 sampler Groovy Pop Session . In the mid-1970s he worked with his brother in the jazz rock band Volkor , which recorded the album JazzRock in 1976 . In 1977 he was involved in the recording of his brother's debut album, Surya , for which he also contributed compositions. In 1981 he presented his own debut album with Debbi , followed by Home Sweet Home in 1983 and the highly acclaimed album Nostalgia in 1987 . In 1987 he was ranked one of the top five European pianists by Jazz Hot . He toured South America with his own trio (which included Silvin Marc and Aldo Romano ). Then he appeared worldwide as a soloist or in a trio with Christian Vander and Alby Cullaz .
For the album Tropicana (1993) he worked with the band Amazonas , then in his own trio with Gilles Naturel and Peter Gritz, with whom the album Jimi's Colors was released in 1998 as a homage to Jimi Hendrix . The New Age album Kama: A Journey to the Indian Forest (2000) was created with Jean-Michel Vallet . After the album Virtual Road (2007), he released the joint album Brothers with his brother in 2009 . In 2012 his solo album Round About Bach was released . He can also be heard on albums by Michel Magne , Henri Guédon , Eric Le Lann , the Compagnie Besson , Jacques Yvart, Visitors , Eric Plandé and his brother.
