Alby Cullaz
Alby Cullaz (born June 25, 1941 - † February 8, 1998 ) was a French jazz double bass player.
Cullaz, the son of the jazz music critic and former president of the French jazz academy Maurice Cullaz ("Smoothie") and brother of the guitarist Pierre Cullaz, worked for many years with Christian Vander and was a member of the trio Alby Cullaz- Michel Graillier - Simon Goubert . In 1973 he received the Prix Django Reinhardt . He also worked with Joe Albany , Johnny Griffin , Jean-Luc Ponty , Aldo Romano , Michel Graillier, Hank Mobley , René Thomas , Dizzy Gillespie , Eddy Louiss , Art Taylor , Dexter Gordon , Kenny Clarke , Guy Lafitte , François Chassagnite , André Condouant and Raymond Fol . In 1972 he was awarded the Django Reinhardt Academy Prize.
