Eric Plandé

Eric Plandé (* 1964 in Marseille ) is a French jazz musician ( tenor and soprano saxophone , flute , composition ).

Life

Eric Plandé studied music with a focus on saxophone at the École nationale de musique et de danse in Pau (France). As a teenager he appeared on television on Les Musiciens du Soir (musicians in the evening).

From 1984 he started improvisation and gained his first experience in various rock and jazz rock groups in south-west France. In 1989 he moved from Toulouse to Paris to study at the CIM jazz school. In Paris he made his first studio recordings as a sideman with the well-known African musicians Yoro Gueye and Wa Yego (BMG), two members of the XALAM band.

Plande formed his first band in 1994 and played in clubs with Nicolas Richard, Baye Babu, Mustapha Cisse, Andy Svetlov, Daniel Dray, Jean-My Truong , among others .

In 1996 the ethno-jazz trio was formed with Jean-Luc Arramy and Serge Marne, later with Ahmed Djemai. He had a television appearance with his own composition on France 3 Ile de France in the show Wermuz & Cie . This was followed by concerts and recordings in a duo with the double bass players Olivier Sens , Jean-Luc Arramy, Stephane Kerecky, Jean-Paul Céléa and the violinist Dominique Pifarély , in a trio or quartet with John Betsch , Jean-Jacques Avenel , Bruno Angelini, Jacques Mahieux , Claude Barthélemy , Moina Erichson.

In 2006 Plandé moved to Frankfurt am Main. There he worked with Joachim Kühn , Bob Degen , Jürgen Wuchner , Janus Maria Stefanski, Norbert Dömling . Since 2009 he has formed a duo with Bob Degen. In 2013 he founded the trio Touching with Uwe Oberg and Peter Perfido . In 2015 he met the double bass player Barre Phillips . Together they gave master classes for modern improvisation and dance, a joint duo and a CD emerged.

In 2016 Plandé formed a duo with pianist Bruno Angelini and a trio with guitarist Francois Arnold and drummer Julien Charlet (music by Carla Bley). In 2017 he played in a trio with Vitold Rek and Ali Neander, Bob Degen and Heinz Sauer . The new project was Jazz-Baroque, Sax Viola Gamba with Jörg Meder . In Paris he played with the guitarist Hasse Poulsen and the double bassist Claude Tchamitchian .
