history
The company was founded in 1991 by the Geneva watchmaker and designer Francesco "Franck" Muller and Vartan Sirmakes, a gemstone setter of Armenian origin. The wristwatches they made were characterized by their tonneau shape and large, curved numerals in Art Nouveau style . The watches, which are located in the luxury segment, became bestsellers within ten years.
Due to the question about the future strategic direction, there were clear differences of opinion between the company founders in 2003. Muller lost his influence in the process, but continued to hold half of the company. As a result, the company acquired other brands in 2005 under the direction of Vartan Sirmakes. In 2010, Muller and Sirmakes declared their dispute settled and have been working together again ever since.
In 2019 , two new buildings with an area of 16,000 m² were inaugurated on the premises of the Manufactory, Watchland , where components for the clockwork are manufactured.
Boutiques
In addition to a network of authorized dealers, Franck Muller has boutiques all over the world, such as B. in Milan, Tokyo, Abu Dhabi, Shanghai, Brussels, Hong Kong, Geneva and Bangkok.
In autumn 2020, the first Franck Muller boutique in Germany will be opened with the boutique in Frankfurt am Main.
