Frank Cheney

Frank Cheney, Jr. (born August 14, 1860 in Manchester , Hartford County , Connecticut , † March 31, 1957 ) was an American silk manufacturer .

Life

Family and education

Frank Cheney, son of the co-founder of the Cheney Brothers Silk Manufacturing Company, Frank Cheney Sr. (1817-1904) and Susan Jarvis Cushing Cheney (1827-1914), graduated in 1882 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology , Cambridge .

Frank Cheney married Florence White Wade (1860–1930) on January 6, 1897. The marriage was the daughter of Frances Virginia. Cheney died in his hometown of Manchester in late March 1957 at the age of 96. He found his final resting place in the local East Cemetery.

Professional background

After completing his studies, Cheney joined the Cheney Brothers, which until the Great Depression of the 1930s were one of the leading companies in the United States in the field of silk product manufacture and processing, and most recently held the position of Chairman of the Board . Cheney also served as President of Savings Bank of Manchester and Director of Phoenix Mutual Life Insurance Company in Hartford , Phoenix State Bank & Trust Company of Hartford, and Hartford Electric Light Company.

The Republican Party member was a member of the Connecticut House of Representatives from 1905 to 1909 .
