Frank Enders

Frank Enders (born November 4, 1860 in Milwaukee , † June 27, 1921 there ) was an American painter , etcher and graphic artist .

Life

Enders, son of a saloon owner in the German community of Milwaukees, trained there from 1875 to 1877 with Henry Vianden , for whom he worked as a sign painter . From 1879 to 1884 he studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Munich under Alois Gabl (drawing) and Wilhelm von Lindenschmit (painting). In 1882 and 1983 he received bronze medals at the Munich Art Academy.

Enders dealt with historical painting, genre and landscape painting. Back in Milwaukee, he opened a studio at 55 Oneida Street . He later became director of the art gallery in the Milwauke exhibition building.
