Frank Hartmann (musician)

Frank Hartmann (born April 19, 1958 in Duisburg ) is a German guitarist , author and music teacher .

Live and act

Hartmann studied concert guitar with Kurt Hiesl in Nuremberg and passed the state-approved music teacher examination. Since then he has been teaching as an independent music teacher.

Since 1981 Hartmann has been running the Hartmann music studio in Fürth together with his wife Bärbel Hartmann . The “Fürth Guitar Quartet”, which he directed, was awarded the Josef Peter Kleinert Prize in 2010. The music studio regularly organizes benefit concerts for the benefit of social institutions. For their extraordinary commitment, the Hartmann couple was awarded the letter of honor from the city of Fürth in 2018.

Hartmann has been intensively involved with Qigong since 1994 . In 1998 he passed the exam to become a qigong trainer and in 2002 the qigong teacher exam as part of the training of the German Qigong Society.

Hartmann has been giving concerts in various constellations since 1986, including 1999 together with Bärbel Hartmann at the Nuremberg Peace Table . In addition, together with Kurt Hiesl, he designed the world premiere of “Praeambulum” for two guitars by Holmer Becker and in 2002, together with Bärbel Hartmann, the world premieres of the works “Valses nobles et sentimentales Op.62” by Uwe Strübing and “Duo for guitar and Violin ”by Peter Janson (* 1960).

Qigong for musicians

From 1997 Hartmann developed the concept "Qigong for Musicians", which integrates the basic principles and exercises of Qigong into the subject areas relevant for musicians, in particular "Breath and musical design, stress management, muscular tension and playing technique" and "Prevention and compensation of physical stress caused by the Playing stance '. In addition to the practical application of this concept in his music studio, Frank Hartmann published the book "Qigong for musicians - the holistic method for relaxed and healthy music-making" in 2004.

He has published his experience in the field of qigong for musicians in numerous specialist articles. As a lecturer, he gave seminars at the Landesmusikakademie Berlin, for the Association of Bavarian Singing and Music Schools eV, as part of the federal congresses of the Association of German Music Schools (2001 in Leipzig and 2005 in Essen) and the Federal Music School Week of the Association of German School Musicians 2004 in Hanover, at the University of Music and Performing Arts Frankfurt am Main , at Dr. Hoch's Conservatory and on behalf of the Luxemborg Ministry of Culture for music teachers and lecturers at Luxembourg music schools and conservatories. Hartmann also participated as a lecturer at the German Qigong Days in 2002 (Gunzenhausen), 2004 (Hamburg) and 2006 (Augsburg).

Engagement in the German Tonkünstlerverband DTKV

From 2003 to 2007 Hartmann was involved as spokesman for the PML / FMP Committee for Private Music Teachers in the Tonkünstlerverband Bayern eV in the DTKV for the concerns of private music teachers. During his time as a speaker, he developed the “Private Music Lessons” certificate, which has been awarded by the regional association of Bavarian sound artists since 2004 and has also been adopted by other regional associations.
