Frank Michael Heidan (born March 11, 1958 in Plauen ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and was a member of the Saxon state parliament from 2004 to 2019 . He is Catholic, married and has two grown children

Life and education

After graduating from the polytechnic high school in 1974, Heidan completed vocational training with a high school diploma as a construction worker from 1974 to 1977. Then Frank Heidan did his basic military service with the NVA from 1977 to 1979 . From 1979 to 1981 he was brigade leader in the Housing Combine (WBK), then between 1980 and 1982 he attended evening school for a master craftsman's training. From 1981 to 1986 he worked as a foreman in the former Plauen section of the Karl-Marx-Stadt housing association.

Further training followed from 1987 to 1992 with distance learning in the metal and lightweight construction combine, which he completed as a civil engineer. He is the owner of a construction company which he founded in Plauen in 1991. Heidan is married and has two grown children.

In 1989, Heidan was a member of the Plauen Group of Twenty and the Round Table and was actively involved in the social changes of the peaceful revolution of 1989/90. In March 1990 he became a member of the CDU. He has been a member of the CDU Plauen district executive since 1990 . From 2008 to 2019 he was the chairman of the CDU-Plauen city association . In the medium-sized business association of the CDU (MIT) he is the deputy state chairman and at the MIT district level he is deputy district chairman and press spokesman.

In May 1990 he was elected to the city ​​council of Plauen as a city councilor , where he held the position of chairman of the building committee. Also in the following years he was elected to the city council. From 2002 he was deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group and spokesman for two committees. In January 2006 he resigned as a city councilor because of scheduling overlaps with his state parliament mandate.

He was elected to the state parliament for the first time in 2004 as a direct candidate for the CDU in constituency 1 (city of Plauen) . In the last state election in Saxony in 2014 , he received 33.1% of the vote. In the 6th electoral term (from 2014) he is a member of the Committee on Economics, Labor and Transport and the Petitions Committee and has been chairman of the Economic, Labor and Transport parliamentary group and economic policy spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group since 2009.

On May 26, 1997 he was awarded the Saxon Constitutional Medal by Landtag President Erich Iltgen .
