Frank Löhr (born May 25, 1971 in Neuwied ) is a German pianist , composer and conductor . Since April 2005 he has been professor for choir and ensemble conducting at the Hanover University of Music, Drama and Media (HMTMH).

Löhr studied piano with Peter-Jürgen Hofer , composition with Werner Krützfeldt and conducting with Klauspeter Seibel in Hamburg. Courses with Menahem Pressler (piano), Thomas Brandis (chamber music), Mathias Husmann (conducting), Bob van Asperen (harpsichord) and Martin Lücker (organ) complemented his studies.

In addition to his solo activity with a particular preference for historical keyboard instruments, he has worked as a pianist and conductor with, among others, Jessye Norman , Zubin Mehta , Donald Runnicles , Simon Halsey, Israel Philharmonic Orchestra , Hamburg Symphony Orchestra , Magdeburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Bamberg Symphony Choir, Studeum Chamber Choir St. Petersburg and Orféon Navarro Reverter Valencia and directed productions for Giuseppe Sinopoli , Eiji Oue, Terry Edwards and Jonathan Nott. He was a guest a. at the Schleswig-Holstein Festival , the Int. Jacques Offenbach Festival and the Musiktheater-Biennale in Munich and worked for TV productions for ZDF and NDR .

At the age of 27, Frank Löhr became a professor of conducting. After teaching at the music academies in Hamburg, Bremen and Frankfurt, he was appointed to the Hanover University of Music in April 2005. He received first prize in the composition competition of the Hamburg University of Music, the LIONS sponsorship award and the culture award of his hometown.

Since 1997 he has been artistic director of the Ahrensburg Chamber Orchestra, since 2002 he has directed the ERANOS Ensemble for Early Music and since 2003 the Bergedorfer Chamber Choir .
