Robert W. Parry

Robert Walter Parry (born October 1, 1917 in Ogden , Utah , † December 1, 2006 in Salt Lake City , Utah) was an American chemist ( inorganic chemistry ).

Parry studied chemistry at Utah State University with a bachelor's degree from Rudger H. Walker in 1940 (he had previously worked for him at the Department of Agriculture's Forest Service), Cornell University with a master's degree in inorganic chemistry in 1942 and he was born in 1946 PhD from the University of Illinois . During World War II he worked in the Munitions Development Laboratory at the University of Illinois. From 1946 he was at the University of Michigan , where he received a full professorship in 1958. From 1969 until his retirement in 1997 he was Distinguished Professor at the University of Utah .

From 1960 to 1963 he was the founding editor of Inorganic Chemistry.

In 1993 he received the Priestley Medal and in 1980 the Humboldt Research Prize . He is an honorary doctor from the University of Utah and Utah State University. In 1987 he received the Governor's Medal of Science of Utah.
