Frank Schmitt (born February 17, 1968 ) is a German handball coach and former handball player , who was mostly used as a left and middle backcourt player .

The 1.86 m tall and 84 kg heavy right-hander began playing handball at SG Leutershausen , with which he also made his debut in the Bundesliga . After moving to TV Niederwürzbach , he became vice-champion in 1992/93 . In 1995 he joined the TuS Nettelstedt . After 172 Bundesliga games and 492 goals, he went to TV Hemsbach in 1996, where he stayed until 2001. He then played for SG Heddesheim, where he also became a coach from 2003. In 2006 he became player-coach at the district league team TV Friedrichsfeld, which he led into the Baden League until 2011. From the second half of the 2011/12 season to February 2018, he was coach at TSV Amicitia 1906/09 Viernheim. From the 2018/19 season, Schmitt will train the SG Leutershausen.

In the German national team , Frank Schmitt made his debut in the summer of 1993 and was in the squad for the 1994 European Championship , where ninth place was achieved. Schmitt scored 14 goals in 15 international matches.
