Monster Hospital (Original title: Frankenstein General Hospital ) is an American horror comedy directed by Deborah Romare from 1988.
action
Dr. Bob Frankenstein is the great-great-grandson of Victor Frankenstein . He calls himself Robert Frankenheimer to cover up and works as an intern at the General Hospital of Los Angeles . In the basement he secretly experiments like an ancestor in a laboratory on an artificial person. His loyal assistant Iggy is at his side. For Frankenstein, however, this does not concern the brain of a genius, as desired, but of a sex-addicted teenager. The monster breaks out of the laboratory, scares the patients and wreaks havoc in the hospital. Only a blind girl has no fear of the monster. When she tells him that it would like to fly, he throws it out the window without further ado. It ends up in a swimming pool and suddenly it can see. Meanwhile the monster comes to Dr. Alice Singleton closer. A fight ensues between Frankenstein and Dr. Frank Reutgar. When the police arrive, Reutgar tries to explain to the officers that Frankenstein created a monster, but Frankenstein and Alice Singleton cover up the monster and Reutgar is declared insane. Frankenstein leaves the hospital, but Iggy convinces him to reassemble more body parts into a new monster. The monster and Alice get married.
background
Half of the film was shot in color, while all scenes in the laboratory were shot in black and white . The role of Dr. Alice Singleton was portrayed by Kathy Shower , Playmate of 1986. A topless dancer can also be seen in a scene in a strip club, while sister Verna is topless in one scene, which earned the film an R rating . Singer Bobby Pickett , who landed a million-seller with the title Monster Mash in 1962, made a brief cameo .
criticism
"The worst Frankenstein film ever made in English."
"Anyone could make a Frankenstein film without knowing anything about Frankenstein, don't mind calling it Frankenstein income tax evasion - and it should still be better than Frankenstein General Hospital ."
“Exaggerated grotesque about the old Frankenstein story; the supposedly fun all too often sinks into blatant tastelessness. "
