Mark Blankfield

Mark Blankfield (born May 8, 1950 in Pasadena , Texas ) is an American actor .

Life

Blankfield grew up in Houston . He first attended Lamar High School and studied at the University of Texas and the Juilliard School . He began his career in 1980 in the weekly ABC comedy show Fridays , which was conceptually based on Saturday Night Live and whose ensemble included Michael Richards . Blankfield played various recurring roles in a total of 54 episodes of the show until it was canceled in 1982. He made his feature film debut in 1981 as Rob in Joel Schumacher's science fiction film The Incredible Story of Mrs. K. The following year he played the title role in the loosely based on Robert Louis Stevenson's novel The Curious Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde based horror comedy Jekyll and Hyde - The Sharpest Metamorphosis Ever . In 1988, as Dr. Bob Frankenstein another lead role in Monster Hospital . Neither feature had much commercial success. He also appeared in two Mel Brooks feature films ; as a blind family servant Blinzler in Robin Hood - Heroes in Tights and as Martin in Dracula - Dead but Happy . In 1989 he was also part of the cast of the short-lived sitcom The Nutt House , which was produced by Mel Brooks and Alan Spencer . In the mid-1990s, he largely withdrew from show business and instead worked as a teacher.
