With around 3000 inhabitants, Mörsch is the most populous district after the core city and a district of the independent city of Frankenthal (Pfalz) ( Rhineland-Palatinate ).

geography

Mörsch is one kilometer northeast of the city. The Isenach flows from south to north through the village, on whose boundary the lowest point of the Palatinate is located (87.3 m) . The Petersau estate belongs to the district of Mörsch and is located northeast of the town directly on the Rhine .

history

Until its incorporation in 1919, Mörsch was in the area of the later administrative units of the Frankenthal district (Pfalz) and the Pfalz administrative district , which were dissolved in the course of administrative reforms in 1969 and 2000, respectively.

A local district was formed for the Mörsch district . The interests of the residents are represented by a separate body. The local advisory board consists of nine advisory board members, the chair of the local advisory board is chaired by the directly elected mayor .

The office is currently held by Adolf José König ( SPD ). In the local elections on May 26, 2019 , he was re-elected with 63.51% of the vote.
