Studernheim is a district and a district of the independent city of Frankenthal (Palatinate) in the northern Front Palatinate . The place was an independent municipality until it was incorporated in 1919.

location

Studernheim is located about 3 km south of the city center, directly on the border with Ludwigshafen am Rhein and its district Oggersheim , which adjoins to the southeast. The district area is 422.9 hectares.

history

Studernheim belonged to the Electoral Palatinate until the end of the 18th century . From 1798 to 1814, when the Palatinate was part of the French Republic (until 1804) and then the Napoleonic Empire , the village was incorporated into the canton of Frankenthal and was there under the Mairie Oppau . In 1815 the place had 227 inhabitants. In the same year it was added to Austria . Just one year later, the place, like the entire Palatinate, changed to the Kingdom of Bavaria . From 1818 to 1862 he was a member of the Frankenthal Land Commissioner ; from this the district office of Frankenthal emerged. In 1919 it was incorporated into the neighboring town of Frankenthal. In 1928 Studernheim had 740 residents who lived in 140 residential buildings.

In the 18th century, the local church at that time was also responsible for the Reformed people from Oggersheim. In the first half of the 20th century, the Catholics belonged to the parish of Eppstein , the Protestants to that of Oggersheim.

Justification of the coat of arms: Based on the seal that dates back to 1497, St. Peter depicted with the usual attributes of key and book; St. Petrus was the patron saint of the Worms cathedral chapter , which exercised the patronage rights to the Studernheim church.

Local advisory board

A local district was formed for the Studernheim district . The interests of the residents are represented by a separate body. The local advisory board consists of nine advisory board members, the chair of the local advisory board is chaired by the directly elected mayor .

Mayor

The office is currently held by Karl Ober (SPD). In the local elections on May 26, 2019 , he was re-elected with 57.9% of the vote.

Culture

With the school house, the Catholic parish church of St. Georg , a residential building and a chapel - both in Oggersheimer Straße - there are a total of four objects on site that are listed .

traffic

Federal road 9 runs to the west of the development in a north-south direction . The bus line 467 connects the place with the city center as well as with Oggersheim; It runs every half hour from Monday to Saturday and every hour on Sundays.

Personalities

  • Konrad Schredelseker (1774–1840), village school teacher and surveyor, drew up a district map of Studernheim in 1804.
  • Franz Schöberl (1845–1908), architect, built the local St. George's Church in 1879.
  • Georg Schubert (1899–1968), sculptor, created a large sandstone crucifix east of the village in 1953.
