history

Bankenunion and Frankfurter Bankgesellschaft AG

The Deutsche Spar- und Kreditbank  (DSK), founded by Merck Finck & Co , was looking for a partner for its branches in the Frankfurt area, similar to the one in the Hamburg area , which led to the founding of the Nordbank . In 1969, for example, the Deutsche Spar- und Kreditbank (30%) founded  the Bankenunion AG together with the Frankfurter Sparkasse  (30%), the Württembergische Landessparkasse (30%) and the Nordbank (10%) . With the entry of Naspa  (5%), the stake of the three major shareholders was reduced to 28.33 percent each.

In August 2000, the banking union changed its name to Frankfurter Bankgesellschaft AG and expanded its clientele to include wealthy private customers. The naming rights for the name Frankfurter Bankgesellschaft AG had the Frankfurter Sparkasse from Bankhaus Lampe acquired (see Frankfurter Bankgesellschaft 1899 ).

Most recently, Frankfurter Sparkasse and Banca Carige each held 47.5% of Bankenunion AG , the remaining 5% were held by Südtiroler Sparkasse . The focus of business activities was the syndicated loan and leasing business as well as securities trading for corporate customers and institutional investors.

In 2007, Frankfurter Sparkasse acquired 100% of Frankfurter Bankgesellschaft.

LB (Swiss) Privatbank AG

The roots of LB (Swiss) Privatbank AG go back to 1955. In 1991 the Bayerische Landesbank took over 100 percent of the private bank.

In 2001 , Bayerische Landesbank merged with Helaba (Schweiz) Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen AG, whereby both Bayerische Landesbank and Helaba (Schweiz) AG each received 50 percent of the shares in LB (Swiss) Privatbank AG.

Due to regulatory requirements, Helaba received 100 percent of the shares in 2009.

Takeover of Frankfurter Bankgesellschaft by LB (Swiss) Privatbank and change of name

With the realignment of Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen in 2010, LB (Swiss) Privatbank AG acquired Frankfurter Bankgesellschaft and its naming rights from Frankfurter Sparkasse, i.e. from another subsidiary of Helaba. Since then , what was then LB (Swiss) Privatbank AG has been operating under the name Frankfurter Bankgesellschaft (Schweiz) AG.

At the same time, the German branch acquired the Helaba Trust advisory and management company and merged with Frankfurter Bankgesellschaft (Deutschland) AG.
