Fransat

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fransat refers to the French TNT program package that has been encoded on the Atlantic Bird 3 satellite since 2009 . It consists of 19 TV channels, 4 HDTV channels and 8 radio channels . In France, DVB-T is abbreviated to TNT for Télévision Numérique Terrestre . The additional broadcast via satellite should enable households that cannot receive DVB-T to still receive the free programs.

A standard satellite dish with a digital LNB is required for reception . This must be aligned with the Atlantic Bird 3 (AB3) satellite belonging to Eutelsat, i.e. at 5 ° west. A digital satellite receiver with VIACCESS card module and the Fransat decoder card are also required. For this purpose, Fransat sells satellite receiver packages, the so-called “Pack Fransat”. The decoding chip card required for reception has so far only been sold in so-called 'Pack Fransat' with digital satellite receivers, so it is not available individually (as of October 2009). Fransat also offers a CI + module in which the card works. The card is free and, unlike TNTSAT, has unlimited validity.

To receive the HD programs, an HD-capable digital receiver is also required, which is also available as the "Pack Fransat".
