Franz Adam (conductor)
Franz Josef Johannes Maria Adam (born December 28, 1885 in Munich ; † September 21, 1954 there ) was a German conductor , Kapellmeister and composer .
Life
He was the son of the painter Emil Adam and the actress Josefa nee Wurmb. After attending the Luitpold High School in Munich, he went to the Royal Academy of Music there in 1903 .
In 1910 he took part in the Richard Wagner Festival in Munich as a clarinetist and later worked in various theaters and orchestras, for example in Altenburg , Gießen , Bad Ems and Bad Ragaz .
On January 1, 1930, he joined the NSDAP (membership number 348,967).
As Kapellmeister he became a clerk for music in the Reich leadership of the NSDAP and had his seat in Munich, Brienner Strasse 45.
In the National Socialist Reich Symphony Orchestra (NSRSO), which was created through his efforts, he was chief conductor and artistic director until the end of the Second World War .
From 1945 to 1948 he was interned by the Allies. In 1949 he became an orchestra leader and music theory teacher in an American music school in Dachau .
