Hobe Tank Brigade

The Hobe tank brigade was an armored combat unit of the Wehrmacht during the Second World War .

history

The tank brigade was set up in military district XIII (Nuremberg) at the beginning of March 1945 under the name Alarm-Panzer-Brigade XIII (also known as Panzer-Brigade XIII ). On April 1, 1945, the unit was renamed the Panzer Brigade von Hobe (after its commander Colonel Cord von Hobe). The unit was used for the first time against Allied troops near Würzburg between the beginning of April 1945 . More fights followed in the Mainbergheim and Bamberg area . On April 9, 1945, the unit carried out retreat battles in the Kitzingen area via Neustadt an der Aisch and Uffenheim . This was followed by a further withdrawal via Nördlingen to the Danube line at Donauwörth . On May 4, 1945, the unit in the southern Bavarian region of Bernau am Chiemsee - Aschau im Chiemgau dissolved. After the German surrender near Kufstein, large parts of the brigade were taken prisoner by the US.
