Franz Bucar de Petru , also Fran Bučar and Franjo Bučar , ( January 20, 1861 in Adelsberg , Carniola , Austria-Hungary - November 25, 1926 in Laibach , Banschaft Drau , Kingdom of Yugoslavia ) was a Slovenian opera singer ( tenor ).

Life

Bucar, the son of a lawyer, worked as a teacher for wood carving and modeling at the kk, Austrian technical college for wood industry in Ljubljana, before turning to the theater after completing a corresponding training. He took singing lessons and performed at concerts, first in the choir and later as a soloist.

On the occasion of his participation in an amateur performance of the operetta Des Löwen Awakening , his voice caught the eye and was advised to have it trained for the stage. In 1889 he renounced his teaching post, completed his musical training with Joseph Gänsbacher in Vienna, with opera singer Josef Leo in Prague and finally with Maestro Gellio Benvenuto Coronaro in Milan , and after completing his studies in 1892 began his first engagement in Pressburg as a "troubadour" .

He then looked for another year in Olomouc to acquire further stage practice in order to be able to follow Max Staegemann's call to the Leipzig City Theater as a lyric tenor in 1894 . He made his debut there as "Canio" and "Don Ottavio". After two years of service, he received a call to the court theater in Darmstadt (inaugural role "Don José" in Carmen ). In 1899 he moved to the Court Opera Theater in Vienna , where he stayed until 1902. His further artistic career is unknown.

He died in Laibach in 1926 .
