Josef Gänsbacher
Josef Gänsbacher (born October 6, 1829 in Vienna ; † June 5, 1911 there ) was an Austrian music teacher .
Life
Josef Gänsbacher was the son of the composer and conductor Johann Baptist Gänsbacher . He studied law at the University of Vienna and received his doctorate in 1855. jur. He took singing lessons from Giovanni Gentiluomo and Hollup, from 1863 to 1904 he worked as a singing teacher at the Conservatory of the Society of Friends of Music , from 1876 he was a professor. In his time he was one of the most respected voice trainers . His students included u. a. Leopold Demuth , Nikolaus Rothmühl and Marie Wilt . His assistant Franz Haböck was his successor as a singing teacher at the conservatory in 1899.
Johannes Brahms dedicated his Cello Sonata No. 1 in E minor to him.
Gänsbacher's grave is in the Vienna Central Cemetery (group 0, row 1, number 61) next to that of his father.
