Franz Christoph von Somnitz

Franz Christoph von Somnitz (born May 18, 1742 in Charbrow ; † July 29, 1829 ) was a German landowner and district administrator .

He was a member of the noble Pomeranian family Somnitz . His father Christoph Somnitz (* 1714; † 1766) was wealthy in the state of Lauenburg and had the hereditary title of Chamberlain of Eastern Pomerania since 1655 , his mother was born von Weiher .

Franz Christoph von Somnitz entered the military service of the Kingdom of Poland , where he rose to the rank of captain and when he left he was even given the character of a lieutenant colonel. After leaving, he managed the Bebbrow estate , and later also the Jatzkow estate , both located in the Lauenburg region. The title of Chamberlain of Eastern Pomerania also fell to him.

In 1794 he was elected as the successor to Georg Christoph von Wussow to the district administrator of the Lauenburg-Bütow district and held the office until he took his leave in 1800. His successor as district administrator was Ernst Carl Ludwig von Weiher . Franz Christoph von Somnitz was last mentioned in 1801 as a landlord on Bebbrow.

He had been married to Anna Franziska Renata von Wussow (1749–1800) since 1774 and had at least the sons Franz and Karl with her.
