Franz Engel (politician)

Franz Engel (born December 30, 1799 in Leobschütz ; † August 6, 1877 there ) was a German politician and member of the Reichstag .

Live and act

Franz Engel attended the public school in Leobschütz from 1806 to 1814 and then learned the trade of tanner . In 1818 he volunteered for military service and then traveled to Central Europe. In 1824 he took over the family business. In 1827 he became a city councilor and served as a magistrate in Leobschütz from 1833 until after 1871. From 1856 to 1862 he was a member of the Silesian Provincial Parliament . There he was a member of the district commission for classified income tax from 1859 to 1862 .

He belonged to the Reichstag of the North German Confederation from 1867 to 1870 and to the Reichstag from 1871 to 1873 . He was sent there by the constituency administrative district Opole 9 (Leobschütz). In the Reichstag he was a member of the National Liberals.
