Franz Fiebiger

Franz Fiebiger (born February 6, 1880 in Ober-Johnsdorf ; Czech Horní Třešňovec , Bohemia ; † October 19, 1932 in Tegernsee ) was an Austrian painter , graphic artist and designer .

Life

After graduating from the technical school for weaving in Landskron (1894–98), Fiebiger studied from 1898–1902 at the Vienna School of Applied Arts under Kolo Moser . In 1903, together with Nora Exner and Hilde Exner, he designed an animal ABC as a picture book for beginners. Around 1900 F. worked in the area of ​​the Vienna Secession . Between 1904-10, Fiebiger worked, interrupted by travels and a long stay at the Art Academy Karlsruhe in Vienna, designing textiles and posters, among other things. In 1908 he won a third prize in the poster competition for the Kaiser anniversary pageant.

In 1910 Fiebiger was employed as an assistant teacher for painting at the School of Applied Arts and Crafts in Magdeburg , from 1919 he was allowed to call himself a professor, and in 1921 he was given a permanent position as an arts and crafts teacher. After the fall of the Habsburg monarchy , he took on Czechoslovak citizenship in 1919.

Franz Fiebiger was a member of the German Association of Artists . Stylistically, Fiebiger's work shows clear influences of the German-Bohemian Impressionists, namely his friend Emil Orlik .
