Franz Friedrich Fronius

Franz Friedrich Fronius was described by his friend and natural scientist Eduard Albert Bielz (1827–1898) as a man of "extensive knowledge and varied charitable work". Fronius was a member of the Transylvanian Society for Natural Sciences, the Transylvanian-Saxon Agricultural Society and a committee member of the Society for Transylvanian Cultural Studies. F. F. Fronius maintained a lively correspondence with the k. u. k. zoological-botanical society in Vienna and to several domestic and foreign botanists.

As far as his time allowed, he undertook group excursions to the Eastern and Southern Carpathians , which he described in the publications of his clubs. In his first parish office he was not only a pastor, but he also wrote the local monograph of Arkeden. As a pastor in Agnetheln, he finished the new school building and laid out a unique school garden, which also included ornamental shrubs and exotic plants. Thanks to Fronius, Agnetheln's first trade school was established. In addition, Fronius was also chairman of the savings and advance payment association in his municipality of Agnetheln, chairman of the reading and sociability association, chairman of the volunteer fire brigade and founder of the evangelical women's association. In addition, Fronius was dean of the Schenker chapter (church district) and its representative in the regional church assembly for several years . In 1874 he was sent to the general assembly in Stuttgart as a member of the Transylvanian-Saxon Gustav-Adolf-Hauptverein . A memorial stone on the school grounds in Agnetheln and in the entrance hall of the Natural Science Museum in Sibiu was dedicated to him for his extraordinary achievements. In 2000, his native Nadesch made him an honorary citizen posthumously .
