In the Josephine land registry in Transylvania between 1769 and 1773 (section 172), the village appeared as a monora . In 1772 Maria Theresa pledged the place with 82 others to Count Teleki. In 1817 Donnersmarkt lost its market rights. The new church was built between 1863 and 1869 and the town hall in 1912. Because of the emigration from 1980 to 1995, fewer than twelve Transylvanian Saxons remained in Donnersmarkt and the Protestant parish was dissolved.
