Franz Gert Leopold (born November 15, 1946 in Graz ) is a former Austrian notary .

Live and act

After graduating from high school in Graz, he studied law at the University of Graz , graduating as Doctor iuris in 1970. From 1969 he was a candidate for a notary public . After being appointed notary in December 1981, he worked as such in St. Gallen (Styria) , in Kirchbach in Styria and from 1995 to 2016 in Graz .

Since 1989 he has held leading positions in the International Union of Notaries and was, in this context, Chairman of the International Committee of the Austrian Chamber of Notaries (2002–2016). Since 2017 he has been President of the Commission for International Notarial Cooperation of the UINL until December 31, 2019 . Since his retirement he has been an honorary member of the General Council of the International Union of Notaries.

Leopold is the author of publications in the field of international law and comparative law and has written several scientific articles for the Österreichische Notariats-Zeitung . Between 2002 and 2013 he was secretary at the Graz Legal Society.

On January 7, 2017, Leopold was named “Styrian of the day” by the Grazer daily newspaper, Kleine Zeitung .

He is married to Ulrike Leopold-Wildburger and has two children.

1996: Gold Medal for Services to the Republic of Austria .
