Ulrike Leopold-Wildburger

Ulrike Leopold-Wildburger (born June 23, 1949 in Graz ) is an Austrian business mathematician .

Life

After graduating in 1967, she studied mathematics , philosophy and logic a . a. with Rudolf Haller and Edgar Morscher at the University of Graz and with Dagfinn Føllesdal at the University of Oslo . She earned a Master of Science (1971) and a Master of Philosophy (1972). In 1975 she was awarded a Dr. phil. ( summa cum laude ) doctorate. In the same year she took the Young Research Workers Interchange Scheme at Swansea University with the support of the British Council . In 1978 she spent at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Vienna. 1982 habilitation they are in Operations Research and Industrial Mathematics . She was also influenced by Wolfgang Eichhorn , Reinhard Selten and John Harsanyi .

From 1972 to 1983 she was a research assistant at the University of Graz. In 1983 she became an associate professor. She then took on professorships at the University of Klagenfurt , the University of Zurich and the University of Minnesota (at the invitation of John Chipman and Leonid Hurwicz ). In 1992 she became a full professor in Graz. She was u. a. Dean of Studies. She currently heads the Graz Institute for Statistics and Operations Research.

Leopold-Wildburger was visiting professor at numerous universities. She is a member of scientific associations such as the Verein für Socialpolitik (Chair of the Social Science Committee, 2003-2005), the Austrian Society for Operations Research (honorary member 2011) and the Society for Operations Research .

On June 22nd, 2010 she received the Cross of Honor for Science and Art 1st Class of the Republic of Austria from the Federal President, who was represented by Governor Franz Voves at the award ceremony in Graz Castle.

On May 21, 2010, the economist and head of the Institute for Statistics and Operations Research at the University of Graz received another award: Fields Medal Winner Prof. Dr.Dr.hcmult. George Leitmann from the University of California at Berkley presented Leopold-Wildburger with the Research Platinum Award C3 - Center for the Advanced Study of Algorithms, Las Vegas, & Competence Centers for Operations Research, Munich & Center of Network Innovation and Experimentation, Monterey.

Leopold-Wildburger was Vice President of the former International Institute for Liberal Politics Vienna (IILP).

She is u. a. Editor-in-Chief of the Central European Journal of Operations Research .
