Franz Greed

Franz Gier (born March 23, 1903 in Bous (Saar) ; † March 27, 1963 ) was a German or Saarland politician of the Christian People's Party of Saarland (CVP).

Gier completed his apprenticeship as a lathe operator at the Bous pipe works. There he worked in his profession until 1929. Then he attended the college for economics and administration in Düsseldorf . In 1930 he took over the role of secretary of the Christian Metalworkers' Association in Neunkirchen (Saar) . According to his own statements, he was unable to work from 1932 to 1941. Then he attended the School for Arts and Crafts in Trier and Strasbourg .

In 1946, Gier joined the CVP. In 1949 he was appointed honorary mayor of the municipality of Bous. After he ran initially unsuccessfully for the Saarland state parliament in 1952 , he moved into parliament on March 14, 1953 for the deceased Ludwig Geraldy and was a member of this until the end of the 1955 electoral term. In the federal election in 1957 , he ran, just as unsuccessfully, on the CSU state list .
