Life
Franz Hiernle was the son of the Prague sculptor Karl Joseph Hiernle . After an apprenticeship with his father, he attended the Vienna Academy .
From 1752 to 1760, after a fire in the Archbishop's Palace in Kremsier, he carried out the sculpting and stucco work for the feudal hall and the library. Around 1770 he created the Empire decor for the great hall. He supplied two sculptures for the archbishop's residence garden. He created an outstanding work in 1764 with the grave monument of Olomouc Prince-Bishop Leopold Friedrich von Egkh and Hungersbach for the Kremsier St. Mauritius Church. It was cast in bronze to perfection and depicts the bishop kneeling on a prayer stool in front of a pyramid.
