Jakob Franz Friedrich Clemens (born October 4, 1815 in Koblenz , †  February 24, 1862 in Rome ) was a German philosopher and writer .

Formed in the Jesuit College in Freiburg, he was a private lecturer in Bonn from 1843 and Professor of Philosophy in Münster from 1856. As a teacher and writer, he followed the medieval church tendency to demand subordination of philosophy to revelation and church teaching authority, especially in his historically valuable work " Giordano Bruno and Nicolaus von Kues " (Bonn 1847) and as an opponent of Günther and Kuhn he stepped forward.

Of 18 May 1848 to 1 May 1849 he was a deputy for 23 constituency Rheinland in Linnich in the Frankfurt National Assembly .

The founding of the Vincenzverein emerged from one of his speeches as a suggestion at the first German Catholic Day in Mainz in 1848 .
