Franz Josef Georg Illem (born March 12, 1865 in Pilsen , Kingdom of Bohemia , Austrian Empire , † August 28, 1912 in Vienna ) was an Austrian portrait , landscape and marine painter from the Düsseldorf School .

Life

Illem studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy in 1881/1882 . There were Heinrich Lauenstein and Peter Janssen the Elder his teachers. As a painter he settled in Vienna. Illem created portraits, later also landscapes and navies with figural staffage.
