Franz Josef Heigl (lawyer)

Franz Josef Heigl (born April 24, 1943 in Moosburg an der Isar ) is a German lawyer . From 2003 to 2010 he was President of the Saxon Court of Auditors .

Life and work

After attending primary school, Heigl continued his education at the humanistic Hans-Carossa-Gymnasium in Landshut , where he passed his Abitur . After completing his military service , he first studied classical philology and history from 1966, but then switched to law at the universities of Munich and Regensburg.

After his first state examination in law, he did his legal traineeship in Munich and also worked for a law firm. He passed his second state examination in law in 1976. He then initially worked as a legal civil servant / speaker in the LVA Niederbayern / Oberpfalz. In 1980 he was appointed judge at the Landshut Social Court , and in 1990 he was appointed judge at the Bavarian State Social Court . In 1992 he took over the office of Vice President of the Landshut Social Court , but was then seconded to the Leipzig Social Court in 1994 . In the following year he became the presiding judge at the Saxon State Social Court in Chemnitzappointed. He then served as President of the Social Court in Leipzig from 1996 to 2003. At the suggestion of the SPD Saxony , he was elected President of the Saxon Court of Auditors in 2003 by the Saxon State Parliament. He held this office from April 1, 2003 until his age-related retirement and the resultant election of a new president on April 30, 2010. His previous deputy, Karl-Heinz Binus, was elected as his successor .
