Franz Joseph Giessler
Franz Joseph Gießler (born October 7, 1854 in Kurzell , Grand Duchy of Baden , † April 7, 1923 in Lenzkirch ) was a German lawyer and Baden politician.
Live and act
Gießler studied law at the University of Freiburg im Breisgau and joined the Baden judicial service in 1874. He became a local judge in Engen in 1884 , and from 1894 in Mannheim , where he was promoted to district court director and head of the court in 1900. From 1915 Franz Joseph Gießler worked as district court director in Mosbach and retired in 1920.
In addition, the lawyer from 1893 to 1908 was one of the central deputy of the Second Chamber of the Badische States General (parliament Baden) that served as the Mannheim city councilor and was a member of the Reich Committee of the Center. 1909–1915 he headed the Mannheim Center Party as chairman.
Franz Joseph Gießler was a devout Catholic, an activist at several German Catholic Days (e.g. 1907 in Würzburg , 1909 in Breslau ) and since 1902 a member of the Central Committee of German Catholic Assemblies . 1908–1915 he was a member of the Reich Executive Committee of the People's Association for Catholic Germany .
