Franz Krampf (born December 11, 1875 in Bad Kissingen , † 1945 ) was a German architect whose main focus was in the Bavarian state spa in Bad Kissingen. Its buildings are now a listed building .

Life

Krampf was one of six children of the hotelier Wilhelm Krampf (1831–1917), owner of the “Wittelsbacher Hof” hotel in Bad Kissingen, and the brewer's daughter Barbara (Babette) Graser (1836–1908) from Untersteinbach (now Rauhenebrach , district) Haßberge ) and grew up in Salinenstrasse 16 (today: Von-Hessing-Strasse). His older brother was the architect Carl Krampf .

For many years, Franz Krampf was overshadowed by his better-known brother Carl. Only after his death (1910) was Franz Krampf able to realize his most important buildings. The focus of his work was the construction of Bad Kissingen houses and sanatoriums (pensions) in contemporary Art Nouveau.

The Bad Kissinger Tattersall, which was built on the outskirts of the city between 1910 and 1911 as a riding arena protecting against wind and weather, is in retrospect probably his most famous building. All structures that still exist today have been placed under monument protection.

Krampf married Elsa Borchardt . He died in a prison of the Nazi regime in 1945 and was buried in the Bad Kissingen chapel cemetery in the grave of his brother Carl, who had died 35 years earlier (grave number 24).
