Franz Kreutter
Franz Kreutter also Franziskus Kreutter (born April 15, 1736 in Freiburg im Breisgau ; † December 2, 1806 in St. Blasien ) was a German Benedictine , provost and historian . He should not be confused with Franz Marquard Kreutter , who also came from Freiburg, but was the capitular in the Tennenbach Monastery .
Life
Probably through his maternal uncle Marquard Herrgott he came to the monastery of St. Blasien in 1753 , where he was ordained a priest in 1759. He studied with Martin Gerbert in Paris . He was appointed professor of philosophy and court chaplain , later it became a large cellar . In 1793 he came to Gurtweil as provost of Bürgeln Castle , where he stayed for three years before returning to Bürgeln. According to tradition, he did not like water and wine in Gurtweil and he is said to have lived a very ascetic life in other ways, but was considered jovial. He wrote a two-volume work on the history of Front Austria , which appeared in the monastery printing house in 1790. On October 16, 1806, the monastery of St. Blasien was finally abolished, the monks first moved to Pyrn under Abbot Berthold Rottler in 1806. Franz Kreutter apparently stayed in St. Blasien, where he died on December 8, 1806.
