Franz Krolop

Franz K. Krolop (born September 5, 1839 in Troja , Bohemia , † May 30, 1897 in Berlin ) was a German opera singer ( bassist ).

Life

Franz Krolop was born in Bohemia in 1839 as the son of an estate manager. After the early death of his father, he went to high school in Gitschin , where he received training in church singing. From 1856 to 1861 he studied law at the Karl Ferdinand University in Prague . During this time he continued to study singing under Louis Appé .

After completing his studies, Krolop initially worked as an army auditor trainee in Prague . But he soon gave up this career to train as a singer under R. Levy in Vienna .

After engagements in Troppau , where he made his debut in 1863, Linz , Bremen and Leipzig , he came to the Court Opera in Berlin in 1872 . His repertoire was very extensive.

Krolop was married to the opera singer Vilma von Voggenhuber (1841-1888) since 1871 .

His grave is in the Jerusalem cemetery and New Church I in Berlin.
