Franz Mattes

Franz Mattes (born May 2, 1949 in Hepberg ) is a German Catholic clergyman, cathedral chapter and Caritas director of the Eichstätt diocese .

Life

Mattes trained as a machine fitter and then studied theology . Mattes in 1977 by Alois brake for ordained priests . Then he was chaplain in Pleinfeld and Neumarkt in the Upper Palatinate . In 1981 he was appointed head of the Episcopal Seminary in St. Willibald. 1986 became the cathedral vicar and mentor of religious educators and lay theologians. From 1990 he was pastor in Deining and Großalfalterbach . In 1992 he came to Döllwang . In 1997 he became cathedral pastor in Eichstätt and cathedral chapter . On June 12, 2011 he became dean of the Eichstätt dean's office . Since August 1st, 2012 he has succeeded Rainer Brummer as Caritas Director of the Diocese of Eichstätt, Head of the Caritas and Social Department in the Episcopal Ordinariate and Chairman of the Caritas Foundation Eichstätt.

Since 1971 he has been a member of the Catholic student association KDStV Alcimonia Eichstätt.
