Franz Mrkvicka
Franz Mrkvicka (born April 1, 1940 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ) at rest. Mrkvicka was an executive city councilor in Vienna from 1983 to 1987 and a member of the National Council from 1987 to 1996 .
Life
Mrkvicka attended compulsory school and then learned the profession of freight forwarder. From 1954 to 1961 he worked for the Donaudampfschifffahrtsgesellschaft , in 1961 he was employed by the Bremen port agency in Vienna and in 1962 he became secretary at the International Confederation of Free Trade Unions in Brussels . Between 1963 and 1972 Mrkvicka was the youth secretary of the Austrian Federation of Trade Unions , from 1974 he was the chief secretary for education and culture in the Chamber for Workers and Salaried Employees for Vienna. In 1982 he became deputy director.
Mrkvicka was sworn in on November 19, 1979 as a replacement for the resigned MP Franziska Fast as a member of the Vienna City Council and Member of the Vienna State Parliament, of which he was a member until May 27, 1983. On May 27, 1983 Mrkvicka was elected to the governing city councilor for culture and sport in the state government Gratz IV . Mrkvicka was also a member of the government during the Zilk I state government before he left office on December 9, 1987. On November 24, 1987, he was sworn in as a member of the National Council, of which he was a member until January 14, 1996. During his tenure as City Councilor, the United Theaters Vienna was founded and the Prater Stadium was revitalized . In parliament he was the SPÖ spokesman for vocational and adult education.
