Franz Otto von Korff called Schmising zu Tatenhausen (baptismal name: Franz Otto Heinrich Matthias , born February 5, 1719 , † October 31, 1785 in Munster ) was official in Cloppenburg and treasurer in Kurköln .

Life

Origin and family

Franz Otto von Korff called Schmising zu Tatenhausen came from the ancient Westphalian noble family von Korff . His father was Caspar Heinrich Matthias von Korff called Schmising zu Tatenhausen , his mother Antonia Helena von Landsberg zu Erwitte (1697–1739). His brother Clemens August (1721–1787) was officiator and president of the prince-bishop's court chamber . On August 15, 1747, Franz Otto married Anna Elisabeth Henrika Maria Droste zu Vischering (1730–1790), daughter of Maximilian Heidenreich Droste zu Vischering and Anna Rosina von Wrede in Darfeld . The marriage resulted in five children, including a. the son Clemens August Heinrich (1749-1821) emerged. He was Oberhofmarschall of the Elector of Cologne and Prince-Bishop of Münster and was raised to the baron status in 1816 .

Career and work

On November 3, 1733, Franz Otto received the Dompräbende in Osnabrück through the Turnar , which he passed on to his younger brother Clemens in 1747. After he was sworn up to knighthood in Münster on February 7, 1744 , he took over the office of treasurer in Kurköln two years later. Already on July 22, 1749, his father Caspar Heinrich was assisted in the Drostenamt in Cloppenburg, he committed himself in writing on July 26, 1750 and received his appointment as Drost on October 23. On April 18, 1775, the cathedral chapter placed his son Clemens August at his side in the Drostenamt. As envoy of the Osnabrück Cathedral Chapter, he took part in the coronation of Charles VII as emperor in Frankfurt am Main in 1742 . He was the prince-bishop's secret council and came to the office of Drosten von Cloppenburg and Vienenburg in 1765. He was Grand Cross of the Order of St. Michael Knights .
