Franz Polanz (born December 29, 1961 in Klagenfurt ) is a former Austrian soccer player and now coach .
Career
As a player
Polanz started his career at SV Ruden . In 1983 he moved to the second division club Wolfsberger AC . For the 1984/85 season he joined the first division club SK Austria Klagenfurt . He made his debut in the top Austrian league in October 1984 when he was in the starting line-up against SC Eisenstadt on the seventh matchday of that season and was replaced by Werner Oberrisser in the 62nd minute . He scored his first Bundesliga goal in December 1984 against ASK from Linz .
In 1986 he switched to league rivals Grazer AK . With the GAK he was able to hold the class in the 1986/87 season as third in the middle playoff . In 1987 he joined the second division club SV Spittal / Drau .
After six months at Spittal, he switched to SK Vorwärts Steyr in January 1988 . After he had reached fourth place with the Upper Austrians in the middle playoff, he played with Steyr in the 1st division from the 1988/89 season.
In 1990 he returned to the second division club Wolfsberger AC.
As a trainer
From July 2005 Polanz acted as Manfred Zsak's assistant trainer in the Austrian U-16 selection . He later also worked as an assistant coach for the U-19 national team .
Between September and November 2008 he was the coach of SV Ruden . In November 2008 he became coach of the regional league team SV Spittal / Drau . In April 2009 he was replaced by Janusz Kubica.
For the 2009/10 season, Polanz took over the fifth-rate SV Griffen . With handles he rose to the end of the season in the national league . After one season you had to relegate to the fifth highest division as bottom of the table. In October 2011 he left Griffen and shortly thereafter took over the fourth-class SV Ruden for a second time. In 2013 he was relegated to the bottom of the table with male dogs. In September 2014 he resigned as coach from Ruden.
In January 2017 he became the head coach of the regional league team SK Austria Klagenfurt , where he had previously also acted as a youth coach. With Austria Klagenfurt he rose to the 2nd division in 2018 . In October 2018, Polanz was replaced by Robert Micheu .
