Franz Sales Meyer (born December 9, 1849 in Kenzingen im Breisgau ; † November 6, 1927 in Karlsruhe ) was a German book author, poet, painter and professor of ornamentation .

Life

Franz Sales Meyer was born in 1849 at Eisenbahnstrasse 8 in Kenzing. From 1866 to 1868 he attended the teachers' college in Meersburg . He then moved to the Karlsruhe Polytechnic , where he completed his training as a trade teacher in 1871. In 1873 he became a teacher at the grand ducal arts and crafts school in Karlsruhe , where he was appointed professor in 1878 .

In 1871, on the occasion of the end of the Franco-Prussian War in Kenzingen , he staged a fireworks display that was widely admired . In 1884 he wrote the first Meersburg city ​​guide and, with the support of the Meersburg Beautification Association , Karl Hoffackers and Hans Thomas , produced a memorandum to improve the Meersburg cityscape in 1907 . In 1911 he drew up a planting plan for the Meersburg cemetery . Because of his more than 50 years of attachment to the place, he received honorary citizenship in 1915 . Franz Sales Meyer died in Karlsruhe in 1927.
