Franz Schob

Franz Schob (born January 15, 1877 in Meerane ; † August 20, 1942 in Dresden ) was a German neurologist and psychiatrist as well as a professor at the TH Dresden .

Life

The pastor's son Schob attended the Princely School in Grimma and studied medicine in Leipzig and Tübingen. During his studies in 1896 he became a member of the Arion Leipzig singers . He became an assistant at the psychiatry department of the University of Leipzig with Paul Flechsig . After two years in the Sonnenschein Sanatorium near Pirna , he became an assistant doctor in Dresden with Sigbert Ganser in 1908 . Here he became a city ​​medical officer . During the First World War he was a regimental doctor and in 1918 took over the management of a hospital for the brain injured. In 1921 he was delegated to Walther Spielmeyer at the German Research Institute for Psychiatry in Munich . In 1923 he became department head of the Dresden City Sanatorium. In 1925 he qualified as a professor at the TH Dresden for psychopathology of children. In 1928 he became department head for the chronically insane. In 1930 he became ao. Professor appointed at the TH Dresden. In 1936 he was appointed deputy head of the Dresden Municipal Mental Clinic in Löbtauer Strasse (today a senior citizens' home). He also worked as a school doctor for auxiliary schools and worked as an expert at the genetic health court . He was known for his research on sick brains and the anatomical conditions for mental illness. From 1934 to 1936 he was chairman of the Society for Nature and Medicine . In November 1933 he signed the German professors' confession of Adolf Hitler .
