Franz Xaver Krismann
Franz Xaver Krismann , also known as Chrismann and others (born October 22, 1726 in Reifenberg ( Grafschaft Görz ), today's Branik in Slovenia; † May 20, 1795 in Rottenmann , Styria ), was an important Austrian organ builder and originally a priest.
Life
Krismann, the son of ordinary people, must have attended a Jesuit school, then he completed a degree in theology and was ordained a priest on December 19, 1759 in Gorizia . After a few years of pastoral care, he turned to organ building, where he probably learned the organ building trade between 1754 and 1758. He built u. a. the following organs:
- 1770–1774 Augustinian Canon Monastery of St. Florian (III + P / 74, "Bruckner organ", rebuilt preserved)
- 1774–1778 Steyr parish church (some registers preserved)
- 1780 parish church Steyr-St. Michael (II + P / 27, reconstruction by Krismann)
- 1768–1770 Alter Dom (Linz) (III + P / 32, "Bruckner organ", rebuilt preserved)
In 1795 Krisman died while working on the organ for the parish church of Rottenmann .
