Franz de Paula or Franz von Paula is a male given name , which also exists as Franziska de Paula in the female variant. The Spanish variant is Francisco de Paula , the Italian Francesco di Paola .

The name is derived from Franz von Paola ( Latin Franciscus de Paula ) (1416–1507), a saint who founded the order of the Paulans .
