Franz von Cordon
Franz Freiherr von Cordon (* 1796 in Vienna ; † January 15, 1869 there ) was an Austrian field marshal lieutenant and politician.
Life
In 1816 he joined the Kk Army . In 1831 he was a wing adjutant to Field Marshal Josef Wenzel Radetzky von Radetz . After serving in Bohemia and Italy , he became major general and brigadier in Vienna in 1846. When the court war council was dissolved in March 1848 , Cordon became section chief in the war ministry. After the capture of Vienna on November 1, 1848, following the October Uprising in Vienna, he was given the military city command . From November 21, 1848 to June 2, 1849 (during the revolution that was coming to an end in 1848/49 ) he was Austrian Minister of War in the Schwarzenberg Ministry. In office he was promoted to field marshal lieutenant . His successor as Minister of War was Ferenc József Gyulay .
Cordon subsequently received the Order of the Iron Crown, 1st class and the privilege of a privy council.
