Franziskus Antonius Fasani (born August 6, 1681 in Lucera , Italy , † November 29, 1742 there) was a Franciscan and priest . He is venerated as a saint in the Catholic Church .

Life

Francis was philosophy - professor , but then in 1695 the Franciscan Order joined and received the 1705 ordination . He became a well-known and popular preacher and confessor and renewed the spiritual life of Puglia . As a religious provincial of Apulia and pastor of Lucera, he lived in extreme poverty and devotedly looked after the poor and the sick. That is why he was called the "saint of the poor" during his lifetime.

Francis was born on April 15, 1951 by Pope Pius XII. blessed by Pope John Paul II. on April 13, 1986 canonized . His feast day in the liturgy is November 29th .
