Life
The son of Anton Faber (1505–1575) began studying at the University of Wittenberg on February 2, 1560 . Here he first completed a basic course in the seven liberal arts and on August 15, 1564 acquired the academic degree of a master's degree in philosophy. In 1568 this led him to the University of Padua , where he presumably obtained a medical doctorate . On October 6, 1570, he was at the University of Heidelberg and then worked as a general practitioner in various places.
He worked in Dresden and was city doctor in Chemnitz from 1577 to 1581 . On October 19, 1581 he was appointed second medical professor at the University of Wittenberg and rose to the first medical professorship in anatomy in 1591 after Salomon Alberti had left . Faber also took part in the organizational tasks of the Wittenberg University and was rector of the Alma Mater in the winter semesters of 1583 and 1589 .
Faber, who had also signed the recognition of the Konkordienbuch , was married to Magdalena (1553-1625), the widow of Salomon Alberti, the daughter of the Torgau city doctor Johannes Kentmann and his wife Magdalena Sponer.
