Frassini is a district ( fraction , Italian frazione ) of Chiusdino in the province of Siena , Tuscany region in Italy .
geography
The place is about 3 km northeast of the capital Chiusdino, about 25 km southwest of the provincial capital Siena and about 70 km south of the regional capital Florence . Abbazia San Galgano Abbey is about 4 km to the southeast. The place is on the eastern edge of the Colline Metallifere at 350 m. In 2001 the place had about 150 inhabitants. The closest place is the main town Chiusdino. Important rivers nearby are the Merse River (approx. 4 km southwest) and the Feccia (approx. 2.5 km north).
history
The place arose on the old road from Chiusdino north to the Feccia river and the castle of Fròsini. It emerged initially as a compact town center and later spread along the street. Since the place did not have its own church until the 19th century, the place was closely connected with Castelleto (and not with Chiusdino), where the church of San Lorenzo was responsible for the place.
