Fred Gleitsmann

Fred Gleitsmann (born October 14, 1951 in Grünewalde near Lauchhammer) is a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

Gleitsmann trained as an electrician and also earned his Abitur . From 1971 to 1975 he studied English and German at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena. Between 1975 and 1990 Gleitsmann worked as a teacher at the POS Lauchhammer-Mitte , from 1990 to 1994 he was a teacher at the grammar school in Senftenberg . He is married and has three children.

In 1993 Gleitsmann member of the city parliament in was Lauchhammer and for the first time in the council Oberspreewald-Lausitz selected.

In the 1994 state election , Gleitsmann was elected to the Brandenburg state parliament as a direct candidate for the SPD in constituency 37 ( Oberspreewald-Lausitz I ) . In the state parliament he was a member of the committee for education, youth and sport as well as the petitions committee . He was a member of parliament from October 11, 1994 to September 29, 1999. In the 1999 state election, Gleitsmann was defeated in his constituency by Ingo Senftleben , the CDU candidate, and missed re-entry into the state parliament.

In the local elections on September 28, 2008 Gleitsmann was once again elected to the district council of the Oberspreewald-Lausitz district. On October 23, 2008, he was elected first deputy chairman of the district council in the constituent meeting. He is also a member of the district council for education, culture and sport.
